Listing fees

Tool vendors pay between $9.99 and $159.99 as a one-off to be listed. The fee buys review speed, placement and extras. It does not buy a verdict, a position in a ranking, or protection from criticism.

Sponsorship

Category and homepage sponsorships are sold monthly. Every sponsored placement is labelled where it appears and uses a sponsored link attribute.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links to tools earn us a commission if you subscribe. This never affects whether a tool is listed, how it is described, or where it ranks. Affiliate relationships exist with a minority of listed tools and we do not maintain a public list of which, because the honest answer is that it should not matter and we have built the site so that it does not.

Newsletter

Sponsored slots are sold per send and marked as sponsored inside the email.

What we do not do

We do not run display advertising. We do not sell your data. We do not take commission on software you buy through a link that is not marked as affiliate. We do not accept payment to remove a criticism or to delist a competitor.

Links

Reviewed listings carry a followed outbound link whether or not the vendor paid. Advertising placements carry a sponsored attribute. That distinction is deliberate: the link is a property of passing review, the placement is what was bought.
