Content credentials
Also C2PA
Content credentials are tamper-evident information attached to an image, video or audio file that records how it was made, including whether AI was used.
In practice: The C2PA standard lets cameras, editing apps and AI generators add a signed record to a file. Platforms and viewers can read it to show that an image was AI-generated or edited. Some AI tools also add invisible watermarks.
Why it matters when picking a tool
If you publish AI-generated media, check whether your tools add credentials and whether the platforms you post to display them. Removing credentials to hide AI use can break platform rules and, in some places, disclosure laws.
