Inpainting
Inpainting is editing a selected part of an image with AI, such as removing an object or replacing a background, while the rest stays the same.
In practice: You brush over the area you want to change and either describe what should go there or let the tool fill it in to match the surroundings. Outpainting is the related trick of extending an image beyond its original edges.
Why it matters when picking a tool
Inpainting is the feature that makes AI useful for real photo work, like cleaning up product shots or removing people from a background. Test it on your own images: edges, shadows and repeated patterns are where weaker tools show seams.
