In practice: The tool listens to a recording or live audio and writes out the words, often adding punctuation, timestamps and a label for each speaker. Meeting note-takers, subtitle generators and dictation apps are built on it.

Accuracy drops with accents, background noise, several people talking at once and technical vocabulary, so test with your own recordings. Also compare language support, speaker labelling, whether you can add custom words, and where the audio is stored.
