Software developers write, review, debug and document code, and AI tools now sit in the editor, the pull request and the chat window. GitHub Copilot and Tabnine complete code as you type, CodeRabbit reviews pull requests, and Claude and Replit handle larger tasks from a prompt. Suggestions can look right and still be wrong or insecure, so tests and code review remain the safety net.

Questions people ask

Is AI-generated code safe to ship?

Only after the same checks as any other code. Generated code can include bugs, outdated APIs or insecure patterns, and it may resemble licensed open source. Run tests, review it line by line, and use your normal security scanning before merging.

What is the difference between code completion and an AI coding agent?

Completion tools such as Tabnine suggest the next lines while you type, and you stay in control of each edit. Agents take a task, change several files, run commands and report back. Agents save more time but need closer review of what they changed.

Will my company code be used to train the model?

It depends on the plan and vendor. Business tiers usually promise no training on your code and offer options like zero retention or self-hosting, while individual plans may differ. Read the data terms, and ask your security team before connecting private repositories.
